Many consider New Jersey the diner capital of the world, but the garden state serves up much more than Coke and fries. A varietal of whites and reds have made splashes within the international wine industry. During the 2012 “Judgment of Princeton” blind tasting competition, many New Jersey wines ranked higher than wines from France. With soil and climate conditions similar to France’s Bordeaux region, this is just the beginning for New Jersey’s growing wine industry.
Of the 40 wineries throughout New Jersey, at least 22 welcome weddings and private events. Each of these wineries reflects a unique look and feel, from North Jersey’s Four Sisters Winery at Matarazzo Farms to South Jersey’s Renault Winery.
Imagine an outdoor tented wedding on a 250-acre farm and vineyard. Four Sisters Winery at Matarazzo Farms offers plenty of room to run, dance and party. The cozy Vintner’s Room accommodates up to 48 guests. A variety of events including Barefoot Grape Stomping Parties, Murder Mystery Dinners and Family Fun Days offer additional activities for out-of-town guests.
Located in Central Jersey, Unionville Vineyards’ historic loft tasting room overlooks the Winery Floor. The inviting stone-walled Cave Room’s wine barrel tables and wooden stools appeals to the vintage bride and groom. An open lawn behind the 1858 Mansion is a beautiful site for larger outdoor
wedding ceremonies and tented receptions.
Tomasello Winery’s French country-styled crystal chandeliers, marble floors, outdoor cobblestone courtyard and gazebo create a picturesque setting for any wedding. The Vintner Reserve’s award-winning cuisine makes catering a breeze, and the views are unforgettable.
Founded in 1864, South Jersey’s Renault Winery is one of the oldest operating wineries in the nation. A combination of intimate banquet rooms and grand ball rooms offer a variety of options for a small or large reception. With a hotel and 18-hole golf course on site, Renault Winery is a popular destination venue. Guests can relax at the winery, play a round of golf or swim in the hotel pool.
These wineries are only a few of the gorgeous wedding venues in the garden state, where you can expect a charming ambience and superb wines on your special day.
